National Novel Writing Month, commonly referred to as NaNoWriMo, is an annual (November) novel writing project that brings together professional and amateur writers from all over the world. Participants attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in one month.
From that I got the idea of writing a poem and calling that my 50,000 words. The poem will reference the 50,000 words and so on.
The above is the premise. Below is the poem.
National Novel Writing Month
NaNoWriMo is the challenge — fifty thousand words!
True or false, sense or not, just has to be words…
Just write, just fill that blank screen or page!
Feel the words begin to flow, don’t stop to read!
Get them down, get them writ, never mind the rede…
The red will always come, like it or not.
Now how best may I, then, this challenge meet?
What words, what lines, what phrases shall I mete?
So many words to write, where is my muse?
Thirty days, just one month, that’s your deadline!
Fifty thousand words, slowly writing line by line…
But hold! Is this my muse or is this my deviltry?
Fifty thousand words. Fifty thousand words!
Why twice have I written fifty thousand words!
My challenge is met, my words now delivered!
Thirty days were we given, fifty thousand words to write
A day for writing, a day for reviewing, a day made right,
And so I wrote, my seven “fifty thousand words”.
